Flavour Profile:

Tōdō no Shiro Matcha is a distinguished matcha blend named by the grand master of Omotesenke, Jimyosai Sōshō. Carefully crafted from high-quality tencha leaves selected from Kyoto Prefecture, this matcha reflects the deep-rooted tradition of tea cultivation in Uji, the birthplace of the name "Tōdō" and the heart of Japan's tea culture. The name honors the legacy and commitment to tea production in Uji, which continues to thrive to this day. Tōdō no Shiro is perfect for preparing usucha (thin tea), offering a refined and authentic experience in every cup.

About Horii Shichimeien

Founded in 1879, Horii Shichimeien has a long-standing tradition of producing premium Uji tea. Located in the Yamashiro region, nestled between the Uji and Kizu rivers, the company meticulously selects the finest tea leaves grown in this historic area. Horii Shichimeien takes pride in its connection to the "Uji Shichimeien" (Seven Famous Tea Gardens of Uji), established by the Ashikaga Shogunate during the Muromachi period. Today, Horii Shichimeien is the sole remaining active tea garden among the original seven, specifically the "Okunoyama" tea garden. As both tea cultivators and artisans, Horii Shichimeien is dedicated to preserving the heritage of Uji tea while delivering exceptional quality to tea lovers around the world.
