Seren Matcha is pioneering the third wave of matcha in Australia. The same way third wave coffee transformed cafe culture, where people started caring about the origin, the processing, the cultivar, the roast, we believe matcha is heading in the same direction.

People are starting to ask better questions:

  • Stone milled or machine milled?
  • First harvest or second or third?
  • Shaded for how long?
  • Which cultivar?
  • Uji or Shizuoka?

We are here for all of it.

Our tencha is sourced from small, family-run farms in Uji, Kyoto, the birthplace of matcha. Stone milled slow. First harvest. Every detail is intentional because when you are asking someone to really pay attention to what is in their cup, the product has to earn that attention.

We also stock some of the most respected Japanese matcha producers in the world:

  • Marukyu Koyamaen
  • Ippodo Tea
  • Kanbayashi Shunsho
  • Yamamasa Koyamaen
  • And more

But Seren has always been about more than the product. We have run community events where people came alone and left having made new friends.

There is something about a shared ritual that creates real connection. Making matcha asks you to slow down, be present, and do one thing well.

And then you enjoy it with people, or quietly by yourself before the day starts. Either way it just feels good.
