"Myouju" matcha is a robust, full-bodied tea with a velvety texture and deep, rich tones. It delivers a long, slightly creamy finish, complemented by mellow bitter notes, making it an excellent choice for those who appreciate the bold flavours of traditional usucha (thin tea). To fully enjoy its complexity, it’s essential to brew "Myouju" with water heated to at least 80°C, as cooler temperatures may intensify its bitterness. Compared to "Koushu," "Myouju" offers a more full-bodied and sweeter experience.
The name "Myouju" ("妙寿") carries a profound and nuanced meaning. The character "妙" ("myou") encompasses ideas of exquisiteness, charm, and even a touch of the miraculous, while "寿" ("ju") relates to longevity and happiness. Usucha (straight matcha)
- Sift 2 g (about 1 tsp).
- Add 60–70 ml water at 70–80°C.
- Whisk briskly in an M‑motion for 15–20 seconds until glossy and foamy.
- Sip as is, or top with a little hot water to taste.
Matcha Latte
- Sift 2–3 g matcha.
- Whisk with 30–40 ml hot water (70–80°C) to a smooth, thick concentrate.
- Add 150–200 ml hot or iced milk of choice. (Full‑cream and oat both shine.)
- Sweeten with honey, sugar or maple syrup to taste
