Ogura-yama Matcha is one of the most widely used and representative products for preparing usucha (thin tea) in tea ceremonies. This matcha offers a rich, full-bodied aroma that fills the palate, allowing you to fully experience the distinctive and authentic flavour of matcha. Ogura-yama is an excellent choice for those seeking a classic, well-balanced matcha that embodies the essence of traditional Japanese tea culture.

About Yamamasa Koyamaen

Yamamasa Koyamaen traces its roots back to the early Edo period when the family's ancestors began cultivating and producing tea in the Uji-Okura region. For generations, they have passed down their traditional techniques, continuing to refine and perfect the art of tea production. Known for selecting superior tea cultivars, Yamamasa Koyamaen has been honoured with 18 distinguished tea names from the grand masters of various schools of the Japanese tea ceremony.

Today, Yamamasa Koyamaen is a leading producer and wholesaler of premium teas, including matcha, gyokuro, and sencha, supplying over a thousand tea retailers, tea utensil shops, department stores, and businesses across Japan and internationally. The company, which celebrated its 160th anniversary in 2021, maintains full control over its matcha production process, from cultivation to grinding, ensuring the highest quality in every batch.
