Hekisuien Matcha - Matsu 30g Ceremonial Grade Japanese Matcha Powder
Matsu no Midori Matcha from Hekisuien
Introducing "Matsu no Midori," a matcha renowned for its well-balanced blend of umami and bitterness. While slightly more pronounced in bitterness compared to our "Daigyoku" matcha, "Matsu no Midori" still offers a harmonious flavour that is both satisfying and refined. This matcha is especially popular for preparing usucha (thin tea), making it an excellent choice for those who appreciate a slightly bolder taste in their matcha experience.
About Hekisuien
Founded over 150 years ago, Hekisuien has been dedicated to the production and sale of Uji tea since its establishment in 1867, during the final years of the Edo period. The company was founded by the first-generation Horii Kihei in Joyo, a region known for its rich tea-growing heritage. Hekisuien’s matcha is renowned for its sweetness, full-bodied flavor, and umami, achieved through a meticulous aging process. The tencha (tea leaves for matcha) is carefully shaded and nurtured, then aged under controlled conditions to develop a rounded, smooth taste before being ground into matcha. As one of the earliest tea wholesalers to specialize in matcha for tea ceremonies, Hekisuien continues to uphold the highest standards of quality, crafting matcha that reflects the rich traditions of Uji tea.
