Marukyu Koyamaen Matcha – Keichi no Mukashi 40g

Ceremonial Grade Japanese Matcha Powder

Experience the refined artistry of Japanese tea with Keichi no Mukashi, a ceremonial-grade matcha crafted by Marukyu Koyamaen, a venerable tea producer from Uji, Kyoto, with a legacy spanning over 300 years. This matcha is esteemed within the Urasenke school of tea, personally selected by its grand master, Hounsai Daisosho, for formal tea gatherings.

Flavour Profile

Keichi no Mukashi offers a deep and rounded umami flavour, complemented by refined sweetness and a smooth, lingering finish with minimal bitterness. Its elegant richness and vivid green colour make it particularly suitable for koicha (thick tea), providing a contemplative and refined tea experience.

Aroma & Texture

This matcha exudes a fresh and pleasant aroma, which, upon whisking, transforms into a more pronounced fragrance with hints of fresh grass and a touch of nuttiness. Its silky texture is achieved through traditional stone milling, ensuring a smooth and frothy brew.

Versatile Applications

While traditionally prepared as koicha, Keichi no Mukashi's balanced flavour profile also makes it suitable for usucha (thin tea) and matcha lattes, where its bold flavour holds its own beautifully when combined with milk.
